Directed by David Gordon Green and with the screenplay, an outstanding work of Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, the flick is not short of an exciting and entertaining comedy. Although not as good as Superbad and Knocked up, you will sure have a good time watching it.
The plot is all about how the drug business lands two dudes in trouble. Dale Denton is seen lazying around the whole time and the only thing that keeps him engaged is his marijuana. Soon after he quarrels with his girl friend Angie, he gets in touch with the drug dealer Saul (James Franco) who tells him of a unique blend Pineapple Express for which the only source is the dealer himself.
While Dale is about to serve a subpoena on Ted Jones (Gary Cole), he witnesses a murder by Ted and a cop Carol (Rosie Perez). In a state of frenzy, he leaves the pineapple express he’s smoking in the car and escapes from the scene. Once he realizes he has left the stuff in the car (which is noticed by Ted), he gets to Saul’s pad to find a way to safeguard themselves from the killer. They flee from the apartment immediately and thence you can be assured of some thrilling sights.
The movie is filled with interesting scenes, of which one physical fight with Gary Cole stands out. James Franco’s stellar performance can help him advance in his career. This could be the perfect Comedy / Thriller / Crime movie.
